How should trail running shoes fit?
A trail shoe should fit snugly around the midfoot/arch area and provide a locked-down feeling in the heel to eliminate any lifting or shifting over uneven terrain. In the forefoot, make sure there is at least a thumb's-width of space between the tip of your toes and the end of the shoe.
Do Asics run bigger than Brooks?
Upper. ASICS shoes have a snugger fit, while Brooks is known for a larger toe box. Brooks still recommends that you go up a half size compared to your normal dress shoe size. ASICS generally fit tighter in the midfoot and heel.
Is it bad to wear trail running shoes on the road?
Trail running shoes offer more traction and stability, which is exactly what you need when running on rugged terrain and nature trails. Though they are designed for off-road runs, trail shoes are generally safe to wear when running on a road or pavement as well.

Nike. Nike is pretty well-known for running small, particularly their shoes. Unless you have narrow feet, you will almost certainly want to order a size larger. Those with particularly wide feet may need to go up 1 ½ sizes.
